Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated

In plain terms

  • IntactVoice is for businesses and professionals producing commercial and editorial content.
  • Students, schools and universities, and anything submitted for coursework, exams or other assessment, are not allowed.
  • Government bodies may not use it, and no one may use it to get around a government, regulatory or licensing requirement.
  • Don't imitate a real person without their consent, and review every output before you use it.
  • Scores are signals, not proof. We don't guarantee how any third-party detector will score your text.
  • Breaking these rules can end your account without a refund.

1.Scope and agreement

This Acceptable Use Policy (“Policy”) governs all access to and use of the websites, APIs, dashboards, documentation and related services provided by IntactVoice (the “Services”), including all text, scores, reports and other material the Services return (“Output”). It forms part of, and is incorporated into, the IntactVoice Terms of Service and any other agreement under which you use the Services (together, the “Agreement”).

“You” and “Customer” mean the person or entity that holds the account, and include every user, employee, contractor, agent and end user who accesses the Services through that account or through any application built on it (“End Users”). You are responsible for all use of your account and API keys, and for ensuring that every End User complies with this Policy.

By creating an account, generating an API key, or using the Services in any way, you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use the Services.

2.Who may use the Services

The Services are offered only to businesses, and to individuals aged 18 or over acting in a professional or commercial capacity, for the purpose of producing and reviewing commercial, marketing, editorial and business content.

The following persons and organisations are not eligible to use the Services, directly or through a third party:

  1. Students. Any person enrolled at, or applying to, a school, college, university, training provider or other educational institution, at any level, in connection with that enrolment or application.
  2. Educational institutions. Schools, colleges, universities, academies, tutoring and test-preparation providers, exam and certification bodies, and their staff when acting for any teaching, assessment or admissions purpose.
  3. Governments. Any national, federal, state, provincial, regional or local government, government department, agency, ministry, regulator, court, legislature, military or security body, state-owned enterprise acting in a public capacity, or any person acting on behalf of any of them, unless IntactVoice has agreed otherwise in a separate written contract signed by an authorised officer.
  4. Restricted parties. Any person or entity located in, ordinarily resident in, or organised under the laws of a country or region subject to comprehensive sanctions, or identified on any sanctions or export-restriction list applicable to IntactVoice or to you.
  5. Persons previously suspended or terminated by IntactVoice for a breach of this Policy or the Agreement.

By using the Services you represent and warrant that you, and every End User, are eligible under this section, and that you will stop using the Services immediately if that changes.

3.Prohibited: academic and educational use

You must not use the Services, or any Output, in connection with education or assessment of any kind, including to:

  1. write, rewrite, paraphrase, edit or “humanize” any coursework, assignment, homework, essay, report, dissertation, thesis, project, lab write-up, discussion post or other work submitted, or intended to be submitted, for assessment, credit or grading;
  2. prepare any application, personal statement, admissions or scholarship essay, or any test or exam answer;
  3. complete any examination, quiz, certification, licensing, continuing-education or professional-qualification assessment;
  4. avoid, defeat, test or study the response of any academic-integrity, plagiarism or AI-detection system used by an educational institution or examining body; or
  5. offer, resell, embed or advertise any product or service that enables any of the above.

This prohibition applies whether or not the relevant institution permits AI assistance, and whether or not the use is detected.

4.Prohibited: circumventing government, regulatory or licensing requirements

You must not use the Services, or any Output, to avoid, evade, defeat or misrepresent compliance with any law, regulation, rule, order or licensing condition, including to:

  1. conceal or misrepresent that content was generated or materially modified by artificial intelligence where any law, regulation, regulator, court or licensing body requires disclosure or labelling (including, without limitation, obligations under the EU Artificial Intelligence Act and similar laws in any jurisdiction);
  2. prepare or alter any filing, application, declaration, report, testimony, evidence or other submission to a government body, regulator, court, tribunal, licensing authority or professional body in a way that misrepresents its authorship or origin;
  3. obtain, renew or retain any licence, permit, registration, certification, benefit, grant, contract or immigration status by misrepresenting authorship or the use of AI;
  4. avoid any professional-conduct, advertising, consumer-protection, financial-promotion, medical, legal or other sector-specific rule that requires human authorship, review, attribution or disclosure; or
  5. influence any election, referendum, legislative or regulatory process, or public consultation through content that misrepresents its source or authorship.

5.Prohibited: deception, impersonation and harmful content

You must not use the Services to:

  1. create a voice profile from, or imitate the writing of, any real person without that person's documented consent, or present Output as personally written by a person who did not write, review and approve it;
  2. generate fake reviews, testimonials, endorsements, ratings, comments or other content that misrepresents the experience or identity of the author, or operate coordinated inauthentic accounts (“astroturfing”);
  3. create spam, phishing, fraud, scams, malware or other deceptive or abusive material;
  4. mass-produce web pages, articles or posts mainly to manipulate search rankings or platform algorithms rather than to help readers, including content that search engines classify as spam or “scaled content abuse”;
  5. violate the terms, community rules or content policies of any platform where Output is published, including rules on automated, synthetic or AI-generated content;
  6. infringe or misappropriate any intellectual-property, privacy, publicity or other right of any person, or process personal data without a lawful basis;
  7. create content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit involving minors, or that promotes violence or self-harm; or
  8. make any decision about a person's employment, education, discipline, credit, housing, insurance or legal status based solely or mainly on a Detect score or other Output.

6.Prohibited: technical misuse

You must not:

  1. share, sell, publish or transfer API keys, or let any third party use your account, except End Users of an application you have disclosed to IntactVoice;
  2. resell, sublicense, white-label or provide the Services as a stand-alone rewriting, “humanizing” or detection service without a separate written reseller agreement;
  3. exceed or work around rate limits, quotas, word allowances, overage spend caps or other usage controls, including by creating multiple accounts;
  4. reverse engineer, decompile, extract model weights, prompts or training data from, or attempt to replicate, the Services, or use Output to train or improve a competing model or service;
  5. probe, scan, load-test or attack the Services, or interfere with their security, integrity or availability; or
  6. insert hidden characters, homoglyphs or other markers into content to manipulate any detection system, or ask the Services to do so.

7.Prohibited: scraping, AI training and reverse engineering of the Software

Our public pages (marketing pages, guides, research, documentation, status and legal pages) may be crawled, indexed, quoted and cited by search engines and AI systems in line with our robots.txt, with attribution, but not mass-copied to mirror the site or build a competing product.

The dashboards, account area and API (and the web app, when it launches), and their Output, scores and voice profiles, are different. Don't use bots, scrapers, headless browsers or AI agents on them, other than the documented API with a valid key. Don't collect Output or scores in bulk, use them to train or build any AI model, detector or competing tool, or try to work out how the Software works by decoding it or by systematic or adversarial querying. We reserve all rights to text and data mining of the Software.

The full rules, and what happens if they are broken, are in the Terms of Service.

8.Detection scores and Output: no guarantees

The Services estimate how text reads to automated AI-detection systems and modify text so that it reads more like a human writer and more like the writer whose habits a voice profile describes. Scores, signals and rewrites are probabilistic.

  1. IntactVoice does not represent or warrant that any Output will be classified in any particular way by any third-party detector, platform, search engine or reviewer, now or in the future. Third-party systems change without notice.
  2. A Detect score is a statistical signal. It is not evidence or proof that any person did or did not write any text.
  3. A voice profile approximates measured writing habits. Output is not the work of, and must not be attributed to, the profiled person unless that person has reviewed and approved it.
  4. Fidelity checks compare Output with the text you supply. They do not verify that your source is true, lawful or complete.
  5. You are solely responsible for reviewing Output before use, for its accuracy, and for any disclosure that law, regulation or platform rules require.

9.Monitoring and enforcement

IntactVoice may, but is not obliged to, monitor use of the Services to detect breaches of this Policy. Because we delete the text you submit after each job, monitoring relies on account details, usage metadata (time, endpoint, status, word counts and timing), automated checks applied while a request is being processed, and reports we receive. If IntactVoice believes, in its sole discretion, that you or any End User has breached or is likely to breach this Policy, IntactVoice may, without notice and without liability:

  1. refuse, throttle or block any request or Output;
  2. revoke API keys and suspend or terminate your account and the Agreement, in whole or in part;
  3. withhold or cancel unused word allowances and subscription fees, which will not be refunded; and
  4. report the activity to, and cooperate with, law enforcement, regulators, affected institutions, platforms and rights holders, including by disclosing account and usage information where permitted by law.

Failure to enforce any part of this Policy is not a waiver of the right to enforce it later.

10.Indemnity and liability

You will defend, indemnify and hold harmless IntactVoice and its affiliates, officers, employees and suppliers against all claims, proceedings, losses, damages, fines, penalties, costs and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from or related to (i) any breach of this Policy by you or any End User, (ii) any Output you or any End User use, publish or submit, or (iii) any failure to make a disclosure required by law, regulation or platform rules.

The Services and all Output are provided “as is” and “as available”. To the maximum extent permitted by law, IntactVoice disclaims all warranties, express or implied, and its liability is limited as set out in the Agreement. Nothing in this Policy limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

11.Reporting, changes and contact

Report suspected misuse, including use by students or for academic work, to support@intactvoice.com with as much detail as you can. Reports may be made anonymously.

IntactVoice may update this Policy at any time. The “Last updated” date shows the current version. Changes take effect when published, and continued use of the Services after a change means you accept it. If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. If this Policy conflicts with the Agreement on a matter of acceptable use, this Policy controls.
