Usage & billing
Read usage by day, endpoint or key, and understand what appears on your invoice.
Usage is recorded per request (metadata only) and rolls up by day, endpoint and API key. Your plan and any pay-as-you-go charges appear on Stripe invoices.
Reading usage
Call GET /usage with a date range. It's free and works with a key that only has the usage:read scope.
curl https://api.intactvoice.com/v1/usage?start=2026-10-01&end=2026-10-05&group_by=day \

| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
plan_words_remaining | Words left in this month's allowance (Rewrite uses 1 per word, Detect 1 per 5 scanned). Resets monthly, on annual plans too. |
overage_words | Words billed as pay as you go this month (0 when it's off). |
overage_usd | Pay-as-you-go charges so far this month, including jobs still running. Billed after the month closes. |
Invoices
Plans are billed in advance, monthly or yearly. Pay as you go (if you switched it on) is billed in arrears: after each monthly allowance period closes, Stripe issues a separate invoice for that month's charges and collects it with your subscription's payment method. Use /usage to inspect consumption.
Download invoices through the Stripe customer portal in Dashboard → Billing.
Spend alerts
Set alerts at any percentage of your monthly words (we suggest 80% and 100%). Enabled webhook endpoints receive the event usage.threshold. The pay-as-you-go cap is your hard spending limit.
Tip:
Group bykey to find which service is spending. Separate keys per service make this useful.
